Born in Kansas City, Missouri and raised in Mapleton, Oregon,
Dan went on to graduate from Westminster College before joining the US Army, serving with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam as a platoon leader, unit commander and adviser. Wounded in action, he received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and the Soldier’s Medal for Valor.
After a 12 year career at GE as an engineer and later a manager,
he founded his own gas turbine technology company in 1983 and
started D2X Associates in 2013, designing VA hospital facilities.
In 2014 he and his wife Tana moved from the Applegate Valley to
a home in Talent, which was destroyed by the Almeda Fire in 2020. They moved to Medford last year. Dan currently serves as board vice chair for RVTD, was past president of Habitat for Humanity Rogue Valley, a board member of the Oregon Energy Trust and is active in the Veterans for Peace Rogue Valley chapter.
