Campaign Finance Reform
Dan applauds state Senator Jeff Golden for his leadership in getting Oregon Measure 107, the Campaign Finance Amendment, on the ballot as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment on November 3, 2020.
It was approved by the people of Oregon by 78 to 22 percent of the vote. It authorized the state Legislature and local governments to:
-
enact laws or ordinances limiting campaign contributions and expenditures
-
requires disclosure of contributions and expenditures
-
requires that political advertisements identify the people or entities that paid for them.
However, the Legislature in subsequent sessions in 2021 and early 2022 has failed to pass any significant campaign reform legislation. If elected, Dan will work with Senator Golden and other reform-minded legislators to get real campaign reform passed into law.
